Aperlai-Friendship leads to success! Part 2.

Aperlaï‘s vision is that to develop a new luxury collection of
footwear manufactured by Italian craftsmen in an age-old tradition.
These architectural designs, inspired by the shapes of the Bauhaus, Tadao
Ando and Oscar Niemeyer, are created in luxurious leathers – lizard,
stingray… - with a combination of aged or surprising tones, as well as
rare fabrics.
Sandals, pumps or ankle boots display beautiful structural qualities –
whose hidden principle remains comfort. Surprising and seductive, this
new shoe is immediately captivating once tried on. A luxury shoe paired
with comfort becomes a joy to wear…

Aperlai-Friendship leads to success! Part 1.

The story begins with a passionate and demanding woman always on the go. She is searching for the perfect accessory that will suit her image, filled with meaning and impeccable beauty, making her stand out from the crowd. The detail that would allow her to move from day to night effortlessly and with comfort.
She is the Aperlai woman .
It could also be the story of the meeting between Burak Uyan, a german designer who made his path at Givenchy and Giambattista Valli, Alessandra Lanvin a headhunter specialized in fashion  and Srdjan Prodanovic a media and communication professional.

Marc Jacobs- by Cathy Horyn.

The music at Marc Jacobs’s show last night was a remix of the American ballad “Over the Rainbow,” with Juliet Greco scratching her way through Edgar (Yip) Harburg’s hopeful lyrics. On the runway, covered in practical brown cardboard, were those American favorites, the A-line skirt, the sheath and the jaunty pantsuit. And what about those distracting celebrities, which have been partly to blame for sucking some of the air out of American fashion? Banished.

Leila Menchari-Behind the Hermes windows.

Since 1977, Leila Menchari  has been responsible for concocting the famous window displays for the Maison Hermès, 24 rue du Faubourg Saint Honore in Paris , as well as designing some of its most iconic scarves.
She was born into a family of wealthy landowners by the sea near Hammamet in Tunisia.

After graduating from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Tunis, she moved to Paris to pursue her studies in painting at the l’école Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. It was there that she met fellow Tunisian Azzedine Alaia, who introduced her to the world of fashion. Through him she met the couturier Guy Laroche, who hired her as an in house model after her graduation from l’école Nationale. Soon after she befriended Annie Beaumel at Hermès, becoming her assistant and head illustrator at the fashion house. That was, until 1977 when she was appointed as head stylist at the prestigious Maison by non-other than Jean Louis Dumas Hermès, the president of Hermès.
In 1998 Tunisia 's President decorated her with the "Commandeur de l'ordre de la Republique Tunisienne. " In 1995, she became a "Chevalier de l'ordre du mérite" of France.  In  2006 she received the Golden Dido award, the highest distinction awarded to a woman in Tunisia, for her contribution to Tunisia 's cultural influence in the world. Menchari was also encouraged by her family, who were very progressive. In fact Menchari came from a long line of headstrong woman. Her grandmother was one of the first Tunisian women to remove the veil in public, and began lecturing and educating Tunisian women about their rights.

The Row-Fall 2010

The Row's Ashley and Mary-Kate, the very few celebrity/fashion success stories, the three-year-old label has become known for its subtly luxurious fabrics as well as its understated and classic yet still somehow edgy cuts, both of which were in evidence at the show today.
