Villa Mabrouka Tangier-YSL

Yves Saint Laurent and  Pierre Berge's villa in Tangier is for sale. With a view across the sea to the coast of Spain, Villa Mabrouka, or the house of luck, is a peaceful walled complex within the busy medina of Tangier. 

Saint Laurent and Bergé purchased  Mabrouka in 1992, it is one of Bergé and Saint Laurent’s simplest homes, with few pieces of value and no art hanging on the walls. ‘The paintings that would have worked in Tangier were Matisse,’ says Bergé. ‘Those are in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Hermitage in St Petersburg. You can’t put worthless things on the walls. It’s better to have nothing at all.’
