The music at Marc Jacobs’s show last night was a remix of the American ballad “Over the Rainbow,” with Juliet Greco scratching her way through Edgar (Yip) Harburg’s hopeful lyrics. On the runway, covered in practical brown cardboard, were those American favorites, the A-line skirt, the sheath and the jaunty pantsuit. And what about those distracting celebrities, which have been partly to blame for sucking some of the air out of American fashion? Banished.
